Welcome to Manic Mummy’s Blog!

My Name is Rachael and I am a mummy to little Jazzy Jasper, born 19th February 2011. My page talks about the highs and lows of being a mummy, then a working mummy (part time) and now a full time working mummy in a high up international industry! I juggle this with being a mum and a wife & generally everything else! This is hard to do, and should be called ‘juggling, manic mother blog’ along with someone who drinks too much wine!

I’ve just moved to Colchester too, so moved away from my family, my friends and everything I have ever know. If you are after a nice, calm and happy blog, stop reading now! But you never know, we might have more in common that you think; and always remember to wear good pants, you never know when you will be hit by a bus! (yes, cheery hey!)

Cambridge Diet….No food!

Cambridge Diet Day!

Right, well today is the day i am finally doing something for myself. I am starting the Cambridge Diet. I have really struggled to keep weight off (all my life) and i want to be a nice round 10 stone. I currently am a bit more than 13 stone and i want this banished and my relationship with food evaluated. I tend to eat because…i just do and now i want that to stop.

So! Today is the day, the counsellor will be coming and i will be letting you all know how i am getting on the mad and crazy world of 4 food packs a day and lots and lots of water! Im nervous – nervous i will let others influence me and fail, but i have a wedding at the end of the year i want to go to in a nice Size 10 dress, so its on!

When being a mum means not being Rachael anymore…

My familySo, im a mummy and every mummy will be nodding her head now (well, hopefully anyway) and that means never having any, yes any ‘you’ time. I would settle for a wee in peace, or even alone (Jazzy likes to come in and sit watching me, always handy). But i love being a mum and never realised suddenly i would loose my identity. I feel like my hubby has remained the same (maybe as he was a dad already?) but i am totally  ’mum.’

I have a fab bunch of friends, those that i really and truly trust, and always make time for me as ‘Rachael’ when Jasper is with us (im never without him) but i wonder what i would have been doing the last 2 years if Jazzy hadnt come along? I still like to sing, dance and music in general, and i love being out in the sunshine and the wild world; i love travelling and meeting new people and working all the hours god sends…but now, i work, clean, cook, provide, kiss, cuddle and look after! Some times i dont recognise the ‘mum’ in the mirror anymore?

Sorry for the drissly note, just wondered how mums retain a little bit of them? How do mums still have a secret slice of them inside? xxx

Knickers, boobs & lumpy bits

Jasper and MummyOkay, so my figure, well if thats what you can call it, has changed someone since having my little lump. I put on a lot, i mean a lot of weight with Jazzy and have lost it all, but my body seems to have taken on a bloated ‘Mr Blobby’ look (i hope im not showing my age now!) So, wobbly bits, jelly thighs and general random lumpy bits, attractive hey! And my boobs, well i was lucky they didnt shrink, they grew a bit (!) no, i dont know how; and now they feel like they weigh a tonne! It doesnt help Jazzy keeps poking and prodding them at every chance…or indeed just using them as a pillow!

Also, i was having a clear out of my knickers today, as you do, and when did my pants become so unattractive? They are more like big baggy pants with no ‘yummy mummy’ in sight! Maybe i should just give up now and become an old lady! Well, im thinking about hitting the Next Sale to get some slightly more attractive pants and a decent bra or two…so watch this space. Lumpy mummy might just turn into…well…lumpy mummy with decent underwear? After all my mum always said ‘You never know when you are going to get hit by a bus!’ (thanks, fills me with hope when crossing the road!)

A working life for me!

Jasper in photoSo, i start work full time next week and yes, am nervous. Nervous because i have a little person looking at me whilst i am typing this and i know i am going to miss like ive lost a limb. But, this is for the better of him…yes? Its so we can get a mortgage and buy things we need and food. Its for ‘us’ as a unit and to make our life alot easier and financially stable. So why do i feel so guilty.

As alot of you will know for a while i also did ‘scrabble art’ which i loved doing, but now will not have the time due to working and commuting. So, am i doing the right thing? I will be only spending evenings and weekends with my beautiful little boy and will feel like i am just ‘there’ for cuddles at night time. Are you a working mum? How do you feel?

I guess men reading this will be huffing thinking ‘Im a working dad’ yes, you are and well done. But did you carry a baby for 9 months, give birth horrendously, nursed, breastfed and cared for that baby 1:1 for another 9 months and can still tell when something is not right, when they are hungry, sad, happy, unwell and just need a cuddle? Im not saying dads dont miss their bundles of joy, but the connection i have with my Jazzy is like he is just in me. My beautiful boy is just so wonderful, and i hope he will understand i am doing this for him.

Its a new dawn…its a new day

Hi all! Okay, so ive been madly madly busy and we are soon to be moving house (which is hard work in itself!) and I will be going back to work full time in July. So very shortly, Cutsie Cutsie will not be taking any more orders and hopefully passing the reins onto someone else who has time and dedication at managing it for me! This will become a new ‘blog’ site. So, if you would like an order, get it in quick as after the end of June, I wont be taking any more orders!

New High Chair from Cosatto…to eat or not to eat!

Cosatto HighchairSo, recently we gave our first high-chair to one of the grandma’s to help feeding Jasper when he spent time at theirs. We then were stuck about what high-chair to buy – I had no idea there were so many ranging from £30 – £300! Its a high-chair! They sit, eat, chuck the food around and then you clean it. So, i did a bit of research and brought a Cosatto Noddle High-chair. It easily adapts and can change height to make mealtimes easier when your child gets bigger!

‘With height and recline options, a wipe-able PVC seat, 2 trays and a fully removable seat pad, this Cosatto high-chair is just as versatile as it is great looking with its stylish Popsicle design.’

I loved the fact the high-chair had 6 chair heights and a 3-position reclining seat that means Jasper, if he chooses to fall asleep mid eat, can have a nap! (I think I need an adult one of these) It also has an easily removable PVC seat cover (so can be taken off and wiped) and a 5-point safety harness and a pommel to ensure Jasper cant escape or pull his way out of the chair.

Another great point was the 2 trays – yes, there are two, one of which slots in over the other – when the top one gets too messy, simply lift it off and there’s even a handy clip at the back to store it on. Both trays can also be removed if Jasper wants to sit with us at the table and therefore we can slot him in.

I love it! I particularly like it will last him a few years, can be cleaned easily and holds him in nice and secure. The high-chair cost £89 and I’ve never looked back! Wow, god bless high-chairs!

New Shoes for Jasper!!

Addidas ShoesOkay, so you all know I am obsessed with dressing my little hunky man, and today is no exception! I have brought him ANOTHER pair of shoes…want to see them? So, I brought them from www.very.co.uk and they were only £28! I love them completely and think they are not only retro and totally cool, they are practical and easy to get on with the Velcro. They also are easy to wash and can be put with any outfit! Love them? Go on, buy them! I am looking forward to Jazzy wearing them soon.

My beautiful boy…chilling in the car!

JasperSo, as you will all know, my little monkey is now 14 months old and more beautiful than the last time I cooed over him! He is such a lovely little boy and full of cheeky smiles and kisses for mummy (and anyone within a 1 mile radius apparently) So, latest picture for Mid week to keep you all smiling, is my little man, asleep in the car, coming home from a busy weekend!

Yes, gorgeous I know, and to top it off, he had his legs crossed as well so was very comfortable just relaxing in the back of the car whilst myself and the husband listened to Kisstory on the way home!

Do you have some funny snaps of your little one? They do the funniest things don’t they! Might have to save this for when he is a bit older and show the girlfriend (not that he will ever be allowed one!) xxx

Trendy baby…shame about the mother

converseSo, Jasper is now walking (wohoooo) and im turning him slowly into the trendiest kid on the block. With skinny jeans, checked shirts and a mixture of footwear, im loving his cute little personal style that he, well me and him together are developing!

His first pair of shoes were….baby Converse of course! Closely followed by Vans. I love my little chunky monkey and love when i can dress him and let his cheeky persona shine through. I guess ive only got a couple more months before he is dressing himself and that should be interesting!

What were your little ones first pair of shoes? Did anyone else get completely confused with sizing? Jaspers first pair are a size 6! This means that I can officially call him big foot apparently, but ive always said he has huge feet! Anyway, had to share them as my child is officially MUCH cooler than me, so i can only go downhill from here! xxxx
